Artist History Ashia's earliest memories were those of creating poems, melodies and paintings. This strong creative impulse has served Ashia as a way to understand and give meaning to the diverse travel experiences in her life -- a childhood spent living and traveling throughout over twenty countries in Europe, Asia and North America. With all that travel, it is suspected that some Gypsy blood is in her lineage! Ashia first started writing her songs in her bedroom, balancing her guitar and a spiral notebook on her lap. She started performing in cafes, but has since received multiple music grants and awards, and has performed on stages in Italy, Scotland and in the US (CA, NV, CO, LA, MA). These days she is joined by a cellist, drummer and bassist (Ashia plays guitar and sings). Also a painter, Ashia has been the recipient of an art grant, and finds songwriting a powerful medium by which she can create images and express ideas. With her new CD, "This Gypsy Soul", Ashia combines both her art and music, as she designed the graphics for her CD and her website, at www.Ashia.com.
