Artist History (A FICTIONALIZED HISTORY OF XU)...formed under the name Rust/late 2000... recorded 7 song demo @ Acme Recording in Chicago, then broke up/very late 2000... re-formed/early 2001... decided to call it a day/spring 2001... "Let's give it another shot... You know, for the fans."/mid-spring 2001... "Where the hell are all the fans??"/summer 2001... changed name to XU;got sick of being asked, "Which of the 153 bands named Rust are you guys?"/summer 2001... began working on EP with engineer Al "Mackdaddy" McAvoy/dec 2001... Still working on EP/spring 2002... Working on EP reaches halfway point/late summer 2002... Still working... Still working... Still working... shoot me. UPDATE-THE EP IS FINALLY DONE!!! HOORAY!

Friends before they became a name, the XU trio collectively writes their own guitar-driven originals and confidently performs them on-stage, thankfully minus the wall-of-noise approach. Guitarist Luke Schmidt readily switches from lead vocalist to back-up singer with bassist Ben Croel, whose melodic and inventive fills need to be heard to be appreciated. While Schmidt and Croel avoid look-at-me frontmanism, propelled instead by classic rock heart, drummer Josh Vallad piques interest with his straight-up rock rhythms and charisma that verges on being artistic.
