Artist description
Today is Robin Black Day
But then again, every day is Robin Black Day
Robin Black. The name seems so plain compared to its owner. With make-up as thick as Ru Pauls'; lace, leather or latex body-wear; perhaps a feather boa wrapped around his neck, and, beneath it all, piercings, tattoes and a personality that is both down to earth and out of this world, Robin Black is the eigth wonder of the world.
Behold, his band, Robin Black & the Intergalactic Rock Stars. Their sleazy pop music is glamorous and decadent, their vision at once beautiful and repulsive. The bands' debut Star Shaped Single - featuring "Time Travel Tonight" (the first emphasis track @ radio) and "More Effeminate Than You" - was co-produced by GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and premiere androgen Moe Berg of The Pursuit of Happiness fame. The songs offer a glimpse of what's to come from Robin Black & the Intergalactic Rock Stars' forthcoming album, a collection of national... no, make that galactic anthems for the worlds' citizens.
The creation of Robin Black & the Intergalactic Rock Stars is a sure sign of the apocalypse. In 1998, Robin began searching the galaxy for like-minded creatures to join his band and to one day rule the universe. Eons later, he found them. Stacey Straye, the ultra cute master of guitar, was the first recruit. Killer Ky, the bass-weilding giant, brought a powerful low-end force. Kevin "K-tRon" Taylor added his stick-spinning fierce beat. And the young x-factor, known only as Starboy, added synth, guitar and attitude.
Together, this band of renegade rock star vigilantes came to earth to dish out its brand of missionary justice. Initially, they set out to destroy the planet and its pathetic music scene. That changed when Robin Black & the Intergalactic Rock Stars quickly received acceptance and adoration from the earthlings.
The people of this fine world were drawn to these curious creatures, whose bubbles, pyro, fog machines, lazer lights and unusual appearance transformed clubs big and small into spectacles never before beheld. It's time now to surrender yourself to Robin Black & the Intergalactic Rock Stars. They can be trusted. We think.
