Artist History
I wanted to put together a compilation album of christmas songs for as long as I can remember, the beauty of the christmas song, or indeed the holiday song as this is not a religous compilation (we invited artists of all race/beliefs/religion) seem to of lost their meaning of late and don't have the same impact the way they did when I was 8-9. Maybe it's just me but I thought a really beautiful christmas record should me made, quickly. Largely inspired by Low's release in 1999, songs that wheren't about selling idea's or marketing plans, re-hashing the oldies for a hundreth time with a 2-step beat. Fresh original songs from what in my opinion (and many others) are the best artists around at the moment, known and unknown. A few oldies brought to life in new individual styles. It came to late October and I realised the dream would pass me by for another year when aaron jasinski sent in his track for Moya "snowsong" closley followed by a phone call from Martin Williams from Silverman playing me his song down the phone. Later Coastal e-mailed me saying they had a track all but mixed. The pure quality, genius and in debted hard work of the tracks meant I had to pull my finger out and do some work. Everyones commitment and hard work was fantastic. The best thing here is, we will hopefully make a load of money for the kids too. Children don't have a voice of their own often, and it's the one thing I DO feel strongly about. This record isn't designed to preach though, it's to be enjoyed wether the song is a message of religion, fun, love or just purely obscure. While we dont want to enforce our views on the listener, information about the United Nations Fund For Children (UNICEF) is certainly worth learning about in my opinion and might just change the way you think. I hope this helps in some way?. Merry Christmas, be good. Mark Rolfe, November 2001. |
