Artist History
With what began as a high school past-time, Dolores, formerly The Lorax, formerly The Orange, has proved themselves as a band with more than a few hours to pass. Unleashed in 1999 under the alias "The Orange" many prospectors saw just another great crappy-punk-band. But 3 drummers, 2 names, and 1 singer later, Dolores has evolved into an indefinable yet sophisticated rock sensation producing a new and unique sound. Nobody can accurately describe what Dolores sounds like, because the band refuses to commit itself to any category of music more specific than rock-and-roll. Because of their lack of tenacity, Dolores attracts a diverse following. Founding members, Ian Alden, Blake Meahl, and Greg Imhoff, after several unsuccessful attempts, decided to form a new band that would blow away all other local bands. After dealing with numerous undedicated and intolerable drummers, they finally settled and let Blake's little brother, Tyler, into the band. The original lead singer, who's talents took the band nowhere, was ultimately ousted to allow Ian to take over on vocals. Ian's raw yet heartfelt singing style proved to be far more appealing and the band was ready for anything. Shunning mainstream styles and putting together harshly creative instrumental compositions, Dolores has given themselves an edge over most local bands, but it is their exuberantly energetic live performances that has provided great relief to the monotone likeness of local bands today.
