Artist History
In 1994, Céline, Francis, Philippe and Jérome meet at N7 computing school in Toulouse. After organising several gothic parties and concerts (Punish Yourself, Corpus Delicti, Gitane Demone and Rozz Williams november the 11th 94), and after the split of the band Eyes of Ice, Philippe and Jérome created the band Sadness is Elegant with Fabien and Thierry. The demotape From Dawn to Perversion is released in summer 1995, and contains four tracks (Other Bloodstains, The Agony of Fate, Fallen through Fire and Madness, Hypnotic Revelation). The music is somewhere between 80's gothic and coldwave, with two basses and one guitar. The band splits when Jérome leaves Toulouse (to find new rythm inspirations in Africa !!!).
In 1997, Philippe, Francis and Céline take their instruments again under the name Chaos In Motion. The second bass, more coldwave, from Sadness is replaced by a more nervous rythm guitar. The sound changes, with influences of Shadow Project and Rozz Williams. The band, with Céline at the bass, Francis at guitars, Philippe at vocals and guitars, and a rythm box, records its first demotape in summer 2000, called Hung upon a Cross (six tracks with a new version of Fallen through). The sound is harder, and the band finds influences as much in Rammstein as in Christian Death. Jérome comes back in Toulouse, and takes his place on the drumkit.
Chaos In Motion plays a gothic-metal rock: each one of the members tries to bring his own influences to build a nervous and intense gothic rock, with no will to create something completely original. What is important is to have good songs. Even if metallic sound gets more important than in the past, the gothic atmosphere still makes the songs.
