Artist History THE TAROT OF UNWRITTEN LAW XVIIIII THE SUN - UNWRITTEN LAW Description: A brilliant band bursts forth upon tile day. Unwritten Law triumphs over convention and mediocrity with their new album combining, intricate melodies, raw edged sincerity and ancient Egyptian mysticism. The lyrics are empowering with their wisdom and introspection and the music is overwhelming with its harmony, ferocity and virtuosity. Beneath the sun dance rainbows of rhapsody and expression. The gray clouds of playing endless parties in open Poway fields with generators for power only to be busted by the cops are dispersing and sinking lower in the sky. A blue star appears on the left cheek of the sun, signifying the abandoned house where vocalist Scott used to live called the Blue Room. The walls there were painted blue and all the doors were nailed shut so you had to climb in through the windows. It was here that Scott joined the band 7 years ago after singing Fugazi's "Waiting Room" when the original singer never showed up that night. The five lower rays of the sun are flexible, evidencing the range of freedom the quintet has in expressing itself on this new and diverse album that shows their punk roots along with their unlimited horizons. 'We didn't want to follow any guidelines, we just made music we wanted to hear," explains Scott. We felt that if we made music we were happy with ourselves, other people would like it. People call us punk, but it's really just '90s rock'n'roll. THE MAGICIAN - WADE YOUMAN, DRUMS Description: The Magician wears a conical hat with a seven pointed star. He sits confidently before a drum kit covered in red concealing his unlimited manifestations as founder of the band. A student of ancient Egypt and the constellations of the heavens, the Magician is calm and in full control of his wizardry. On the drum kit sits a striped cat, old and wise, wide-eyed and alert to the rhythmic possibilities existing for his master. The Magician's left hand rests on his snare, suggesting mastery over what he is about to perform. In his right hand he holds his magic drum sticks, symbolizing his powers. Through the unity of Unwritten Law, the Magician is able to show the band it's spiritual side and how to nourish it. He easily tears apart a thick volume marked A to Z, suggesting courage and fortitude against a wide range of adversity. He lives in a inaccessible domain and no one can reach him unless he permits them. He is still too young to get into bars. The Hermit is a silent genuis who writes songs of great meaning. In his right hand he holds a pick, signifying his desire to create new sounds rather than engage in trival chatter over passing fancies. In his left hand he holds a book open to the page where the Hermiit has written a few short beautiful verses about modern society. The Hermit is the guarding of melody. XVIII THE STAR - PAT KIM, BASS Description: A large yellow star hanging in the sky bears the image of a young poetic face and the body of a man hidden behind a small cloud. The man holds an extra bass string from which trails a small moon. With his right hand, the man places numerous stars in the night sky. His legs represent a secret Asian knowledge of ass-kicking kung-fu vengeance which he'll open up on anyone dumb enough to mess with his band. Clear skies are a good omen and show how as the latest addition to the group, the Star has brought everyone together personally and spiritually. Divinatory meaning: Inspiration. Insight. IIII THE EMPEROR - SCOTT RUSSO, VOCALS The Emperor is a bro of regal stature. He wears a royal purple crown in the shape of a heart, studded with jewels and topped with a golden sun, symbolizing the power shared with the rest of the band in creating music over a vast domain. The Emperor looks younger than his age. He conceals his great wisdom and experience with a thirst for greater knowledge and revelation. The replica of a volcanic planet held by the Emperor suggests violent and turbulent activity in the past playing music. He resides with his wife Jodi, a daughter Caffin; a son Niko and a dog named Rocky. The Emperor is capable of great accomplishments on his many boards of pleasure and is not afraid to let a diverse array of influences guide his group in the making of their music.
