    Artist History
In late 1993 Mark Pearsall (owner, Man With Gun Records) decided to form a band with Brady Carlson and Jeff Giba of Dipole Moment. At the time Mark didn't play any instruments and didn't really want to sing, so Brady and Jeff kind of left Mark behind, taking the excellent band name Streetcar with them and adding Amy Borchwald (now of Jumping Bomb Angel) on bass. In 1994 the trio home recorded "Chapternext" and released cassette copies to a lot of critical acclaim and very little airplay, sales or notice. Amy left the band around this time, and Dave Carlson (now of Shooting Blanks) took over on bass. Soon after, Christian Goodwillie (another ex-Dipole Moment) joined on guitar. January 1995 saw the new lineup's first recording session, which produced the "Streetcar" album. More great reviews followed, as did a headlining spot at Chicago's Cabaret Metro that summer (documented on "This Room is Now Closed"). In August they returned to the studio to record the "Scream to Breathe" album. By fall 1995, distance (the band members lived in three different states) and creative tensions were splitting Streetcar up. Christian Goodwillie left in October. Brady, Jeff and Dave played one final show in March 1996 and the band ground to a halt. Brady and Jeff reunited for one final home recording session the next winter, which produced "Paranoia." Dave added bass soon after and the last bit of Streetcar music was finished. Streetcar's members have gone on to be part of a number of exceptional projects. Amy Borchwald recorded two excellent CD's at home under the moniker A Message From the Czar before forming Jumping Bomb Angel. Dave Carlson joined the pop- punk band Shooting Blanks, while Christian Goodwillie and Jeff Giba recorded a CD of acoustic music under the name Loki. The two also joined the touring lineup of indie-rockers Kleenex Girl Wonder, including a tour of Japan. Brady Carlson formed Jumping Bomb Angel with Amy Borchwald and released several solo records as well. In 2002 Living Indefinitely Records compiled and began to release the Streetcar catalog. All those who have heard the band agree that the re-releases are long, long overdue.

    Press Reviews
From the Sea of Noise Journal, http://seaofnoise.com/sonj/music.html: "This four-piece from Illinois has been together for only a year, but they show promise in the eleven songs here. Streetcar cites bands like Sugar, Velocity Girl, the Posies, and Stereolab as influences and, indeed, in the tape's best moments a powerful pop vision shines through. Unfortunately, it's a struggle to hear the songs trying to escape: Chapternext suffers from the primitive recording and poor production common in independent cassette releases. Fortunately, there are printed lyrics, so you won't miss nice turns of phrase like: 'There's writing on the wall but I won't spell it out for you I wrote a warning just to see what it would do...' A Living Indefinitely records CD compilation (We're All Living Indefinitely) is planned for release early this year, and Streetcar plans to contribute a track. If the CD is well-produced, it should be worth checking out. I hope we hear more from Streetcar." ------------- From WWW Music Database: "Wow! These guys blew me away... I haven't heard music this good since Husker Du! Streetcar`s debut is melodic, cathartic, and powerful. The Chicago trio explores the highs and lows of relationshipswhile creating an intense melodic roar."
