Artist History
San Francisco Bay Area musicianClassically trained as a child, he performed rock, jazz and blues in the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas as early as age 13, and performed alongside artists such as ex-Grateful Dead keyboardist Tom Constanten and former Mike Bloomfield/Electric Flag bluesman Nick Gravenites.
In the early 90's he ventured from previous musical pursuits to focus primarily on fingerstyle guitar, the mandolin, and the acoustic music of North America, Cuba, Venezuela and Brazil. He returned to performing in 2000, primarily in Latin Jazz and Folk. He is also a teacher, producer, and sits in with local Latin, Folk, Jazz and Blues bands. |

Group Members
The David Ray Band includes: Tom Edwards, guitar; Vince Littleton, drums and percussion; Mike Sugar, bass; Brian Rice, pandeiro. Ray also performs solo and in several other band configurations ranging from a Latin guitar/mandolin acoustic duo to a full 5-piece Brazilian jazz/rock band. Guest artists on David Ray's CD recordings also include Darrol Anger, Steven Strauss, Jackeline Rago, Saul Sierra, Ron Galen, Helen Holt. |
