Artist description
AntiAntenna Recordings is a record label from Toronto, Ontario. We focus on releasing quality recordings in the indie rock, post-rock, and emo music genres. Yes, we know emo is a really stupid word these days- but it was really cool a few years ago and it still seems to fit.

Artist History
AntiAntenna was the name given to my idea to create the largest student entertainment network online in late 1999. The name was chosen because of it's use of fairly common words, the repetition of the letters A-N-T (the meaning of which would contribute to our logo). By late 2000, AntiAntenna (the student entertainment network) had been narrowed down to just a record label, and the decision to help Gaffer out with their second full-length was made.
In June 2001, we released "The 20 Year Design Theory" - a compilation CD of mutual friends between Gaffer and myself. The idea was to provide documentation of a growing musical community of bands without labels and bands who hadn't released a CD before. The name of the compilation comes from an essay I wrote in high school, comparing entertainment in the late 90's to entertainment in the late 70's. These days, it seems like every 20 years our entertainment repeats itself - the disco era, the rock-to-electronic-rock era, progressive rock / math rock era. The idea behind the compilation really sets the tone for the entire label - to push the limits of talented new bands, and to always allow the organization to do things that haven't been done before.
AntiAntenna has released a small handful of CD's in the last year, organized several shows for touring bands, put together the largest online Canadian indie rock community, and is planning to keep up the momentum for as far as we can see forward.
