Artist History
Award-winning South Australian singer/songwriter Cal Williams has been captivating U.K.
audiences with his tender and insightful songs of life, love, people and places.
As lead guitar player for the popular Australian folk/pop musical collective My Favorite
Brunette, Cal released the much-anticipated and extremely well-received debut album "dear
uncle norman" in the Australian spring of 1999. On the strength of this album as well as the two
songwriting awards received in 1998 and 1999, Cal was invited to perform his songs as a solo
artist on the 2000 English summer music festival circuit.
Cal embarked on this busy two-month tour performing at many of the major folk festivals
includiing the Beverly and East Riding Festival, the St. Ives September Fringe, and the
Lancashire Folk Festival, as well as performances at the Cavern in Liverpool and live-to-air on
BBC Radio Lancashire.,
Upon completion of this tour Cal then continued his travels and performed throughout England
and Wales at acoustic clubs, backpackers, and coffee houses.
In early 2001 Cal arrived in Edinburgh, Scotland and immediately secured residencies at
inner-city acoustic venues and radio airplay on Edinburgh student radio Fresh Air FM. Cal
recently performed at the famous Spiegeltent for the 2001 Edinburgh Fringe Festival- as well as
other major festival venues. Whilst in Edinburgh Cal also recorded and released his debut solo
e.p. "from a bowling green overlooking the sea".
Cal is now busily organizing a solo tour of Ireland to promote his new e.p. |
