Artist History
From age 5, Amber Jade showed a talent for music, composing pieces on the basement piano for hours every day. Musical expression gave her a desperately needed creative outlet against the violence of growing up in her grandparent's abusive, alcoholic household. Throughout her school years Amber Jade participated in choir and theater, where she found a passion for the stage. Music, poetry and visual art became integral parts of Amber Jade's life. She wrote everything from techno to jazz on her keyboard and piano at home, performed in school music events, and gave horsebackriding lessons and trained horses (her other love) after school. After a few failed bands, she decided to go solo. Amber Jade recorded her first demos at 19 years old, just a few weeks after picking up the guitar for the first time, and soon found herself with a record deal with Bill Cashman of The Cavern Studios in Arizona.
With too many styles and influences for a debut album, Amber Jade took a few months to settle on a genre. During this time she wrote over 150 new songs, and earned a place as Tucson's hottest new talent through her intimate and amazing solo shows, winning many local awards. Her life experience, honest delivery, and stunning voice made her a favorite. She released her first book, a collection of poems called 'Being', now in its second printing, before the album was finished. Amber Jade's debut album, 'Breathe', was released in 2000. Since its release, 'Breathe' has won critical acclaim for its refreshing sound, catchy songwriting and Amber Jade's incredible voice. Sales of 'Breathe' have already reached the thousands selling off the stage at live shows and through her website, with no major distribution.
Amber Jade continues to tour internationally, performing at colleges and universities, clubs, fairs and concert halls, to an ever-growing web of fans. The Music Tree CD is due for release in 2002.

Press Reviews
"Amber Jade is a real contender. I love "Breathe"! I want another copy!" - Huey Lewis
"Her distinctive female vibrato, in combination with soulful lyrics, makes this album worthwhile. Too often, it seems, contemporary female artists are singing with rage and anger about hating some man or another. Amber Jade's nature-inspired album is a refreshing break from the standard.
Though her voice - and poetry connection - is most similar to Jewel's, those seeking a CD of leisurely-paced music, appropriate for lounging lakeside, will not find that on Breathe. Tracks such as "Your Front Porch" and "Hold You Down," although not full-on rock tracks, attempt a more upbeat rhythm than the rest of the CD... The remaining tracks, are melodious and intertwined with beautiful instrumentation. " - AZ Daily Wildcat
I love this cd. The lyrics are heartfelt, the music soulful, and the vocals haunting and compelling. In particular, I find that "your front porch," "hold you down" and "for my sister" speak with a voice I wish I possessed. I was struck with their power the first time I listened to them, and with each subsequent listening they make themselves more a part of my psyche. I'm very impressed. One thing the CD does lack is some polish; this is not a bad thing: it is a very well done endeavor. It is very much like the loss of virginity, I think: impassioned, but occasionally halting; raw yet sympathetic.
