Artist description Columbus, Ohio is not the breeding ground of generations of rock stars, however, it is a city that does have generations of dedicated rock music fans. Out of these music fans, some become musicians that eventually grace the stage they once stood in front of as fans. You will not find more passionate fans of music than the members of Rivin. Vocalists James Pinkerton and Josh Waugh, guitarist Tim Westenfeld, bassist Scott Scribner, keyboardist Lawrence Zalewski and drummer Jeremy Humes make up one big lineup creating an even bigger sound. The name Rivin came from the word ‘riven’ -To tear or split apart into pieces violently. This is in reference to the emotion involved not just in the composition of Rivin’s music, but more obviously in their live performances. Rivin prides itself on the dedication they have to their fans. Every performance the band goes out of their way to make that particular show stick out in the mind of each audience member. Rivin maintains a healthy distance from the Hip-Hop influenced sound that has consumed many of the new generations of bands. They explore various electronic elements of modern rock music. The energy and aggression present in Rivin’s music is enough to move the listener to understand the meaning behind the lyrics of the songs just by hearing the music itself. At the same time the words provide an in-depth description as to the pain and feeling involved in their writing.
