Artist History
The Rotten who hail from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
began their reign of chaos in february of '99 after the demise
of Just Another Protest (Adamn Protest), Rassinet (Spangi),
and Aural Pleasure (Jonny suicide). Stepping away from typical
speed/new school punk Adamn and Spangi decided to re-connect
with the roots of punk rock, so creating a sound reminiscent of
major influences The Dead Boys, The Partisans, The UK Subs, and
the Pist. Armed with attitude, anarchy, and anger The Rotten set
out on their quest to destroy the monotony of new school punk and
bring back the passion and politics of a by-gone era (circa 77-85).
Because of the threat the band posed to new school punk, shows were
few and far between. But all is not lost, due to the bands
resilience a small crowd of dedicated fans emerged from the
gutters of a conservative skate rock scene and supported
them on their quest. After playing with Blanks 77, Random Killing,
and recording their first full-length album
"Destroy this Wretched Country" the only problem that faced
the rotten was the lack of a permanent bassist. Although
Jonny was to play the permanent position of bassist his
job at a cat testing plant got in the way and they were
forced to, once again, find a new bassist. Not an easy
task for an old scholl punk rock band. After stints with
many local bassists they finally settled with Mr. Abbott. An
excellent bassist with an attitude problem. But even with Mr. Abbott
on bass the band seemed to be lacking . After quite a bit of thought
and searching the band realized that their stage presence was weak. An
easy remedy was finding a new guitarist and leave Adamn with only vocals
to allow him to interact freely with the crowd while he sang. They quickly
picked up Mr. Haus a local supporter of their ideals. The band was now
complete and ready to assault the airwaves and deafen the tender
ears of their corporate punk rivals. Exploding once again onto the
scene at a local ARA benefit party, they quickly burst the bubble
of tranquility and instigated destruction through aggressive, driving,
old school punk rock. |

'77 style is coming back with these punks so keep your
