Artist description
Tania is a Christian artist who plays original jazz/pop with spanish and english lyrics, as well as traditional Cuban song forms that the whole family can enjoy. Tania brings warmth and sensitivity to her recordings as well as to the stage, delivering her message in Spanish and English. She is an active member of her church choir and leads praise and worship in the Spanish language ministry. Her next goal is to complete a full length original spanish/english gospel recording. She has been backed up by accomplished artists including Bryan Clark (guitar). Tania has completed two full length recordings on her own label "Ambientes Carinosos" which is a name to signify a loving family atmosphere. The recordings were made in response to locals who requested copies of her music. Her first recording, "Looking Back, Thinking Ahead" is a collection of original acoustic music in English. The songs are stylistically eclectice with a focus on poignant lyrics. Tania's second recording is titled "Surf Salsa" and is a collection of songs in both Spanish and English. Her first single "El Mandador" was promoted by the Spanish radio magazine "Antenna" to sparkling reviews for the dance crowd. Tania's songs (Ponderosa Pines, Olas En Mis Ojos, El Mandador and Que Lindo) have picked up National airplay on such stations as: KIDI 105.5 FM in Santa Maria, CA; KRVS FM Dallas; KXCI FM Tucson, as well as on college radio. |

Artist History
An accomplished pianist, Tania began formal piano lessons at the age of six and continued on to obtain a bachelors and master's degree in music and music therapy from Southern Methodist University on full music scholarships. She has studied music in Cuba. She studied voice under Sonia McCormick of the Escuela Nacional de Musica and Leonel Aleaga of Adelberto y Su Son as well as Carmen Torres (sister of famous composer/arranger Aida Diestro of Cuba). She was voted one of the top five music acts in Dallas/Fort Worth in 1999 by the readership of the Dallas Observer(an entertainment newspaper). In 1998 she was invited to sing "Milagro" (a song she translated into spanish and arranged/recorded vocals)at the annual 4th of July Willie Nelson Picnic in Luchenbach, Texas. Tania's voice has been used in various local jingles in Spanish and English and she has appeared on local Spanish variety TV shows including "De Todo Un Poco" and "Variadissimo". In July of 1997 Tania founded the "Cultural Knowledge Through the Arts Workshop and Artist Exchange" in which she brought musicians and dancers from Cuba to Texas. A first generation American, Tania credits her "Abuelita" for teaching her the joy of singing and in particular, of always singing a new song unto the Lord. Her Abuelita passed on many great songs from the spanish church as well as Cuban traditional song movements. Tania's credits her mother, an accomplished pianist/teacher/adjudicator as her inspiration to study and pursue learning to play the piano. Tania is grateful to God for her talents and giftings and feels very priveleged to share this gift both in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and in her work as a music therapist helping children/elderly/ and people from all walks of life. |
