Artist description
Punk Rock is a dead institution. There are commercial vendors, and over aged nostalgic conglomerates that harbor what used to be known as the kids music, but there is no punk rock. It was a moment captured in history where angry, directionless kids piled into a club that knew no ages, and they proceeded to speak vicariously through their scene to the rest of the world. It was a moment that died willingly with those who created it. Those times are not forgotten, but non-existent throughout underground America. Kids still show up to these shows, but for the most part, heartlessly. They are borrowing from a culture old enough to have seen their parent's youth. The fire is gone, and it is time for change. It is time for kids to have something to be passionate about again. It is time for kids to have something to call their own.
With rock aesthetics at the forefront, Straight Sixes will lead this next generation of angry directionless youth into something all there own. This is a mission to bring real music into the mainstream. No Bubble gum pop, no rap-metal, no punk rock, no songs written by other people with hidden agendas. This is REAL music made to shadow everyday life, to tell stories of regret, happiness, heartbreak, friendship, and growing up as bored, uninspired youth. The music draws from such varied influences as The Reverend Horton Heat, Bob Dylan, Guns 'n' Roses, The Clash, Elvis Costello, Iggy Pop, The Dead Boys, and others. And with such instrumentation as upright bass, harmonica, organ, and banjos added to the mix, Straight Sixes produces an extremely original addition to the music world. This band is not about some retro revolution, musical hybrid novelty. This band is about extremely listenable music with a message, and of course a whole lot of attitude.
