Press Reviews
"Powerslave.com" Owner Mario Perotti "Finally, late in the night, the East Bay act Minus took to the stage and brought their different heavy sound to the audience. Having never seen nor heard this band before in the past, this set held a heavy interest, and Minus certainly impresses with this sound. Featuring drummer Jayson Brackin, talented vocalist Muntaser Majdoub, bassist Sam Upton, DJ AR Two, and guitarist Jef Sawyer, Minus pumped through a collection of songs, most notably those from their currently available four track EP "One Decent Human Being" including "Suicide Bombing" and "Sand Nigger" as well as "Illegal Alien" and newer tune "Jumangi". Featuring a turntable laden heavy hardcore sound which walks back into a strange type of melody, this is far from anything remotely labeled all out "rap-rock" which would be a quick assumption with the DJ on stage. Rather, Minus works smack dab in the chaos of the sound and up and down bouncy riffing and grooved sections. To punctuate the effect of a whacked out sound, at times, Sawyer picked up a violin stick among other objects to create different effects from his guitar. Minus has only been in existence for over a year or so, but their infectious, hardcore heavy, different kind of heavy will certainly continue to gain this band popularity."

"Powerslave.com" Owner Mario Perotti "The Minus sound walks all over the map and offers a straight crazed hardcore sound which walks into some tripped melody and smoother driven guitars at times, creating an altogether loose, heavy tone. Minus will no doubt continue to push forward with this heavy rolling flavor and continue to gain the popularity they are destined to grab. Definitely need to keep an eye on the Minus machine as it rolls forward in the scene."
