Artist History
Founded in 1996, by guitarist, Tony Vorrises, and drummer, Andrew Holzbaur, HOSTILITY started writing music and developing their own style. 1998 brought the addition of vocalist, Greg Haran, and bassist, Brandon Sigmund, in early 2000. With the line up complete, their extreme brand of hard hitting in your-face-metal was ready to hit the scene.
After releasing a 5 song EP in early 2000, and playing countless Bay Area shows, HOSTILITY has become a well oiled machine.
HOSTILITY's latest release, entitled, "ANOTHER STATISTIC" was recorded by Juan Urteaga (Skinlab, Vile, 40 Grit) at Trident Studios in early 2001. On this, their first full length, they unleash a raw exhibit of pure, unadulterated metal. Their aural assault pounds the body and brain like no other. It combines the insane energy of Sepultura, with the pissed off attitude of Pantera, to create a sound that's brutal and intense.
Their live show pushes the envelope even further. Never missing a beat amidst the fray, constantly thrashing and pounding, their presence breeds insanity. Their uncontrollable aggression and adrenaline infects the crowd like a plague. A HOSTILITY show will leave you pumped and impressed with a taste for more.
Their live show coupled with their crushing, debut full length CD "ANOTHER STATISTIC," let's everyone know HOSTILITY=CHAOS.

"Process of Depletion" 2000
From the Santa Rosa region, the young Hostility has released their first EP entitled "Process of Depletion". Produced by the one and only Juan Urteaga from Trident Studios, the disc has exceptional production values and retains that bite at loud levels.
The sound Hostility has provided on this new disc is a heavy, chunky, growling, aggressive sound akin to the popular, well known Bay Area sound. Guitarist Tony Vorrises (who on this recording also handled the bass duties), drummer Andrew Holzbaur, and the angry vocalist Greg Haran have released a strong effort with this first disc.
Each song on this disc moves at upper to mid-tempo allowing you to hear just what Vorrises is accomplishing on the guitar. The highlights of this disc include Holzbaur's strong double bass drum work of the straight ahead "Stale Eyes", Haran's finest vocal work on the title track, and the up/down feeling of Vorrises's opening riff to the strongest work of the disc "Fractured Fear".

"Another Statistic" 2001
Certainly one of the more anticipated releases in certain circles, Hostility comes forth with their debut, full-length, Trident Studios production recording that offers up a huge, in your face metal blast of raw blended power. Right off the top, this disc offers up a large sound and production complete with up front vocals, guitar and, one of the more impressive vehicles, the drum work. This disc almost redefines aggression as Hostility hauls in some Bay Area sound mixed with their hint of thrash, hardcore and all out metal. Featuring bassist Brandon Sigmund, guitarist Tony Vorrises, the extremely pissed off vocalist Greg Haran, and the extremely impressive foot and drum work of Andrew Holzbaur, Hostility has all but nailed their initial full-length with an uncanny precision.
Some of the highlights on this disc include the reworked, holdover tune from their initial demo "Process of Depletion" entitled "Fractured Fear" which offers up that metal blasted melody through the chorus with the signature punishing riff structure, the scale crawling riff of the title cut that utilizes a break-off riff style that walks the song from the main sound into the bridge, "Death Mask" which opens and continues with pure speed and breaks into a two stepper by the midway point, and "Embraced by Acceptance" which opens with a start stop fill with drum punctuation and breaks into a Vorrises led chug pushing the song.
The borderline, three-steps-heavier-than-hardcore sound of Hostility has laid out this disc flat, creating the necessary viable angry vibe essential to this sound. With Haran seemingly becoming increasingly hostile as the disc progresses, these guys have completed a straight ahead work of metal art. Easily one of the top releases this year thus far.
