**STOLEN FROM www.ESKAPO.com**
Eskapo is at best, a convergence of cultures and characters represented by the norcal town we hail from, Vallejo, ca. The brand of hardcore we play is not typical generic jock-core or re-hasued mediocrity but a mixture of old school, thrash, streetpunk, humor and political topics screamed in both tagalog, a dialect of the Philippines, and English.
The cast of insurgents are as follows; brothers Loi and Max Fajardo, two of the founding members of the band, immigrated to the U.S. in the early nineties and influenced by punk and political folk bands from the Philippines that got Max banging madly on drums and Loi shredding his six strings. Luke winders, a native of Vallejo has, spider-leg fingers finessing his bass as he shoots quick-witted comebacks to audience members who heckle. A frontman in his youth of the Vallejo band, *EXIT WOUNDS* , his melodic but throat-scratching growl harmonizes and strengthens lead singer, Rupert Estanislao’s vocals. Rupert, also a founding member, spasms on stage, screaming into the mic about American imperialism in undeveloped countries like the Philippines, racism, the unity and intoxication of close friends and some historical pieces like the Japanese occupation of the P.I. during World War 2, Spain’s four-hunred year rule in the P.I., corrupt politicians and punk rockers who think they’re rockstars. The last and fierest is Bruce Webb, who leaps and thrashes his guitar, occationally grinding his vocals on the mic, Bruce is the youngest and newest to the band and has thankfully invigorated new life and influence to Eskapo.
Eskapo in English from tagalog means, *refugee and escape*. And refugees come from third world countries or broken homes. Eskapo to U.S. is refugee, a music called hardcore that united five different individuals as brothers.
