Press Reviews
Fusing the pure, uninhibited power of independent rock, the poignancy and melody of catchy pop, and just enough individualism to remain both CD and radio friendly, 2FM is a distinct, poetic, and utterly passionate group of artists. The trio consisting of lead vocalist/bassist Mike Barry, guitarist/vocalist Adam Murphy, and drummer Leighton Wood finds something truly heartrendering and affecting within the context of independent rock, and contain musical elements comprehensive enough to be palatable to both the indie rock connoisseur and fan of power chords. 2FM communicates a true emotional pathos through their appealing, complex harmonies, present throughout their debut album Everything You've Never Had. Barry's soulful, heartfelt lyrics are fantastically conveyed through his demonstration of vocal range and precision. Adam Murphy's guitar contributes a powerful complement to Barry's poetic lamentation.
Besides being talented musicians, 2FM is comprised of three guys who want to truly make their mark on the music scene. Their friendliness, amazing stage presence, and great music makes it hard for anyone with even a passing interest in the local scene not to notice. Such an appeal has brought 2FM a diverse fan base-spanning from underground rock fans to alternative rockers.
It didn't take long for people to notice 2FM; they have played with the likes of Valve, Sweet Lee Morrow, and the Mistake Pageant (formerly Velvet Zero), to name a few. 2FM attracted over 100 fans to their third show, at the Galaxy Club. Their command of the stage, talent as musicians, and appealing sound have brought many fans-both new and familiar-to every single show the band has played. 2FM truly has a following, and it grows with every live performance.
The band's first album, "Everything You've Never Had," showcases the band's indie edge while also maintaining a radio friendly, power-pop alternative style. The sixth track on the album, "Bulletproof," is a beautiful song that embodies the band's strength in indie-alternative. However, power-pop is also found on the album, particularly in "Sway," the first track. 2FM also has a liking for an acoustic sound, which is superbly demonstrated in "Montage," the final track of their EP.
2FM is different than anything else out there. The band is completely unique and their fans love them for it. A group of guys with a true passion for music, 2FM's excellent songwriting, pure talent, and creative energy have spawned over 20 songs, each one completely unique. In eight months, the band has accomplished more than ever imaginable. And they continue to progress and mature.
