    Artist History
Growing from a distinct distaste/distrust for the heartless electronic music filling the ears and young minds of Wellingtons youth, Tony and Lux banded together with the intent to destroy the soulless trend and revive the sleeping rock monster. With the arrival of two like minded individuals, Leroy and Slim, early 2001 saw Two Lane Black Top kicking out the jams and producing a distinctive style. A style based largely on early ‘70s metal/punk i.e. MC5, Kiss, and The Stooges but also borrowing from contemporary influences ie, Refused, T.I.N.C, Fu-Manchu and the gigantic Hellacopters. Playing continually around the Wellington area and gaining a reputation for an all meat no fat style of playing Two Lane Black Top (named after a 1970s drag racing movie) achieved renown for the brevity of style and need for speed.
