Artist description
Melody-driven, guitar-fuelled pop with copious amounts of keyboard work and a nailed-to-the-floor rhythm section - topped with a healthy dose of 5-part vocal harmonies. Honeybug have an uncompromising all-killer, no-filler attitude to songcraft. |

Artist History
Honeybug decided on their current lineup while inebriated at a barbeque in June 2000. The party finished in mid-September and the band set about learning some songs.
Eventually, Honeybug decided to ply their wares to an unsuspecting public and, thanks to the warm reception, have been playing live regularly ever since including regular ad-hoc appearances busking during The Edinburgh Festival 2001.
In the Spring of 2001, Lady Luck appeared on a limited edition compilation CD entitled "INDIE'D" (released on Aposse Adesse Music) which showcased the best of Scottish unsigned talent.
Honeybug recently set up their own club, Club Honeybug, in Edinburgh to promote themselves and their favourite live acts and DJs. The Club Honeybug Christmas Bash will be held on Friday 7th December to launch the series. Check our website for more details!
The band are currently recording their début CD - to be released in early 2002. |

Press Reviews
In the weeks before Honeybug's début live performance, singer Ni tested some of the songs solo, accompanying himself on the piano. After supporting Belfast band Booley at Edinburgh's Star Club, Stuart McHugh of The Evening News (an Edinburgh daily newspaper) wrote this...
"Nigel Frayling-Kelly - with psychedelic shirt and crushed velvet loons - sat behind a piano playing a selection of witty material which musically (being piano-based) is a little like early Elton John in the slower pieces, and more your Randy Newman up-tempo."
Thanks Stuart... now NO-ONE's gonna download our tunes! |
