Artist description Check Mate are five musicians from south-germany (bavaria) who play (in this cast) together since about 2,5 years. In spring this year the combo was strengthened by a violin which made the sound and the songwriting more multifarious. The band has now found it`s own, unmistakable musical style which depends on groove, melody, part-song and variation. What comes down from the stage could be called "straight, innovative" rock, that doesn`t need to lean against great bands. In September 2000 Check Mate recorded their studio-debut-album [Rata Nui] and has now signed up at the independent-label "Attack Tone" (Augsburg, Germany). This year the five themselves produced 7 new songs ("Demo 2001") and they are looking forward to do their first professional production expected in spring 2002.
