    Press Reviews
Press review for Doctor X - Lost In The Psychedelic Sixties", a cover album of sixties classics: "Okay, now before I go on my rampage about the utter SACRILEGE that this CD represents, I just need to know how a bunch of guys with such an obvious reverence for The Beatles and who take such great pains to recreate so much of the arrangements and sounds of these songs, even having access to a real mellotron, can get the opening chords to "Strawberry Fields Forever" so WRONG?! That aside, this is a clever approach to infusing techno drums and electronica to these classic sixties tunes. The concept of covering these songs is painfully dangerour unless you can either capture it faithfully or put a fresh and interesting spin on it. Fortunately this disc actually does both with irresistably listenable results. The drum'n'bass break in "Crimson and Clover" alone is worth the price of admission - and how did they get Stephen Hawking to agree to do vocals on "Tomorrow Never Knows"? "Down By The River" sounds like it could have been on the second Babble album. I truly believe that with the notable exception of "Fool On The Hill," which still makes my flesh crawl, this CD is quite possibly the coolest thing that Tim Casey and Co. have come up with after all these many years. My only regret listening to this disc is not being a part of it. I play a mean mellotron and I know the chords to "Strawberry Fields Forever!" Punks! - Joel Simches, The Noise July/August 2001
