Artist History
Once upon a time there was a little bean. A boy found it and planted it and it grew and grew until it became almost human. The boy said, I will call this bean a human bean, I will call it Dean the Bean.
One day Dean the Bean said to the little boy "Can I have a guitar? The boy said "O.K." and the rest is history. |

Dean Zimmerman began his one-man project of experimental, computer pop in early 2000 when he took the moniker of Deanthebean. By combining the instrumentation of guitar, bass, keyboards, samples, and additional computer noises that were recorded on his home PC, Zimmerman's alter ego resembled more of a stripped down Moby without the politics and multi-commercial licensing. All of this was eventually captured on his self-produced, self-released debut album, Gimmedat, in 2001. — Mike DaRonco
