Solo hack-and-slash project. Heavy guitars and
thick sequences, distorted vocals, and smashing

take itself too seriously. Campy butchered audio-

Artist History
Alex Machine was officially born on December 31st,
2001 in a damp oil-spattered basement located somewhere
in Pittsburgh. Prior to that, there had been a few
unfortunate (yet ultimately necessary) miscarriages in
sound. While barely worth mentioning, Dead Ringers (the longest lived) did help to
evolve the bad genes that would lead up to Alex Machine.
I got my start in music by taking a cheap correspondence
course in (drumroll, please) "electronic music technology",
which didn't really do much for my current job as a meat
cutter yet did score some gear on the easy pay plan to get me
started in fulfilling my childhood dream of becoming Trent
Reznor... Well, after I got the tools I dropped the course and
quit paying, so my credit was bad until the school went under
in debt(something about promising great careers to underpriviledged
ghetto ghouls, but I could be mistaken). I also got a swell
framable diploma for my shining achievements which I had already
forgotten how to achieve because I was too busy trying to figure
out how to program the synth. Oh, and I bought a guitar from a
russian jew, or, I mean, a jewish russian, and he gave me some
crash courses in exchange for my buying him vodka (no kidding). I
created many experiments as Dead Ringers, before meeting up with
Ursula who joined in. Eventually we started to write some real songs
that had an actual hint of logic to them, and I was also making
great money at my porno-cashiering job (no matter what you do or how
much they pay you, it always breaks down to buying and selling meat). So now I
could afford some of the gear I wanted to really get things rocking,
and it worked. Ursula and I both came to the decision it was time to
change the name from Dead Ringers to ??? Well, I was calling myself
Alex Machine, and that didn't seem too pretentious and would be easy to
remember, plus it made me feel cool like a gangster from the 40's which
I found very appealing. So I started writing songs as Alex Machine, and
from there it became a solo project after Ursula lost interest. PMP Records
was in touch almost as soon as Alex Machine was up on mp3.com, and I quickly hooked
up with them on an informal signed basis that will enable Alex Machine to further
spread. By the dawn of 2003, "The Engineer", my first CD as Alex Machine, was released, and
from there, we are here. A new record is in the works (VOLUME, to be released at the end of 2003),
and Alex Machine will do anything in the meantime for a cheap thrill....... |
