Artist History Spent is an overall aggressive attack on one’s ears. It’s an energetic mix of many styles of music. Combining influences ranging from Primus and Helmet to Machine Head and Chemical Bros., Spent has perfected a hard-edged sound that will throw anyone into a frenzy. Kurt(guitar) and Andy(bass) had played Chicago’s Death scene for several years. Kurt, in Prophecy of Azrael also sessioning for Oppressor on a European tour and Andy playing in Rise, they have each played with the scenes best bands such as Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Cradle of Filth, Vader, etc., having become tired of the droning sounds of Death-Metal they both were looking for something new. The two met in 97’ and started to create the beginnings of Spent. During the Summer of 99’ they started to jam with Sean(vox), who had previously been in a fairly successful Chicago based band Bulkhead, thus is the core of Spent. With Mike on the drums, the line-up has solidified and a new aural expereince has ensued. Although the band takes a professional approach to their music, Kurt states, “our main goal is for us and our fans to have a good time.” Their music is aggressive, and their shows are intense. Spents music is an aural assault on ones perceptions. From the slapping and tapping of the bass, the bludgeoning guitar riffs, and the aggressive vocals, Spent is a band that encompasses many genres of music successfully. Spent has recently released their first CD. Recording with George Langis(Mudvayne, Mr. Pill, Lung Brush, etc) at Signal Sound Source and mastering at Studio Chicago, the overall maturity and quality is exceptional, showing that this band is one that has goals in sight. The three songs Line, Recall, and Coward, typify the Spent sound. With an increasing song base of funk, metal, industrial, and hard-core, the band is always growing and a full-length CD is in the works.
