Artist History
This Toronto, Canada band formed in early 1997 as a collaboration between Steven and Thor Perditon's appropriate public launch was on Hallowe'en of that year, and was met with rave reviews for their haunting sounds, beautiful melodies, and commanding stage presence. With 1998 came their first CD and EP, "With Bitter Waves of Hope" and "Luci." Both received play on CIUT radio as well as in several clubs.
The full length album 'Nothing Else Remains', featuring new songs, an old favourite 'Luci' and remixes by various artists, was released in February 2002. The release party also represented the bands return to live performance. The anticipation of the large crowd who came out for their return was fulfilled; Perdition's powerful visuals, dark lyrics and sound received enthusiastic reviews.
The Toronto community voted on the winners for the 2002 Toronto Goth Awards, and Perdition received awards for Favourite Band and Song. Perdition also headlined the awards ceremony, and released the CD "Waters of Oblivion" (featuring the award winning Godlust) on that night.
In 2003, the band went into a self reflective mode, and assessed their sound, changed gears, and redefined their sound. bit more accessbile, tighter, cleaner, crisper, more full sound..
In the first six months of 2003, Perdition hit the stage in Toronto four times. As well, they also travelled to London, ON and Montreal, QC, to give out of town audiences a taste of their music.
Studio work is now complete on their newest album, "Down Beneath The Skin." |

Press Reviews
Just when I think they can't give a better live show, they prove me wrong. (dem, toronto-goth.com)
Both my friends and I found that your songs either pumped us or made us feel sad/depressed-very cool! (monica, montreal)
Perdition has emerged to inject a little bit of old school flavour back into the realms of gothic and industrial music while creating a sound unique unto themselves. (Amberstrain, re: 'Waters of Oblivion')
The 10-year-old band was decidedly the most emotionally charged of the lot, and the most ‘goth’ in the classical sense, adopting its sound, in part, from the ‘80s, rather than from the more synth-electronic sound that distinguishes 90s goth music. (Sheila O’Hearn, Toronto) |
