    Artist History
(Band Bio - From the VH1 Behind the Music special transcript which aired earlier this year) In the spring of 1995 a team of research scientists at the University of Sorbonne in Paris began a series of top secret experiments in which they injected bovine steroids into common, garden tomatoes. When university officials became aware of the research, they quickly dismissed it is inane, pointless, and a waste of university resources; however, the research was not done in vain. It was by no matter of trivial coincidence that during the spring of that same year, the band Wish was formed in Phoenix, Arizona. Envisioned initially as a "boy band", Mark Allen, David LeGassey, & Ryan Brown encountered their first obstacle to greatness, when they discovered that none of them could dance. Bass player David LeGassey comments, "We would practice dancing hours on end. The record label paid big bucks to enroll us all in the Cory Feldman School of Dance and Refinement, but it just didn't matter. The harder we tried, the worse we got." Barely out of the gates, it looked as if the band's days were numbered. Then the unimaginable happened. Famed child TV star, Gary Coleman, agreed to join the band. "Once Mr. Coleman joined," recalls Ryan Brown "it looked like all our dreams were going to come true." The band quickly headed to the studio and began working on what was slated to be their debut album, "Whatchyoutalkin'aboutWillis?" The album was to be a concept album in which the band would write songs about the possible things Willis might have been talking about. While the critics anxiously awaited the debut, the record label executives began to become increasingly fearful that the public's love of the famed TV star and his beloved catch phrase might be wearing thin. Infurriated by the record label's attempt to exercise increasingly more artistic control over the album, Gary Coleman quit the band in a fit of rage. The band tried to continue by recruiting child TV star Emanuel Lewis to fill the vacancy; however, the efforts were in vain. After a brief stint with the band, Emanuel Lewis left for reasons the record label described as "artistic differences". Devasted, but still determined the band continued to refine their craft, until one fateful evening when the band was "discovered" by the brother-in-law of a friend of a former Danger Kitty roadie. With a powerful force in the music business now in their corner, the band knew they were standing on the brink of greatness. The band quickly began working on their debut album which would host an impressive list of guest performances. After years of obscurity, Mark Allen comments on what it was like to finally be in the studio working with the likes of Keith Richards, Adam Clayton, Kurt Cobane, Emmylou Harris, and Eric Clapton, "We didn't work with any of those people on this record," Mark Allen states. "I think you have us confused with someone else. Besides, Kurt Cobane has been dead for several years now." The End.
