Artist History
Born in a small town in West Africa, Tunji moved from Cotonou, Benin at age 6 and has spent most of his life in the United States. Always fascinated with music, he started out singing in church and went on to complete both an international studies track and a performing arts track in highschool. He was the first and only student to graduate from North Atlanta High School (formerly Northside High School – School for Performing Arts) with both honors.
Tunji’s musical influences include Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, The Winans, Babyface, BoyzIIMen, Tupac Shakur, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Sade, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Quincy Jones, Organized Noize, and Dallas Austin. In 1997, he met Dallas Austin while interning at DARP Studios, a studio in Atlanta that Dallas owns. After meeting Dallas, Tunji began to climb the ladder of success that would eventually allow him to share his talents with the rest of the music industry. Between 1997 and 2000, Tunji produced music and wrote songs for himself and a number of other artists. He performed background vocals for some of those artists as well.
Tunji has a unique way of producing music using only computer sequencing and MIDI connected equipment. A self-made MIDI professional, he uses only a computer keyboard and a mouse to compose music. This method is time consuming to the average producer, but he has developed the technique into an art form.
With great lyrics and music, sweet vocals, and a wonderful blend of background harmonies, Tunji’s forthcoming album promises to find its way from your ears into your mind, your body and your soul. With a promise like that, expect to see this artist in the industry for a long time to come. |
