Artist History Mahiar, a bassist, together with Chennai's Best University vocalist, Nanditha, formed the band "No Idea" on 22 August 2000, known for its variety in music and its ability to hold the audience spellbound, with its showmanship and skill. The band recruited Chennai's best Pre-University guitarist, Aum Janakiram and drummer, Rodney D'Costa. Shayne,was requested to join the band as the guitarist. After a few shows, the band decided to recruit Donny, to fill in for Shayne while he toured with his other band.The latest addition to the band was Prithvi. So far we have participated in 4 National College Rock Competitions and have secured places in all of them: JIPMER College, Pondicherry, Spandan 2K: Secured 2nd place and won individual prizes for 'Best Vocalist' and 'Best Own Composition'. St. John's College, Bangalore, Autumn Muse 2K: Secured 1st place and won individual prizes for 'Best Vocalist', 'Best Bassist', 'Best Keyboardist' and 'Best Band'. IIT, Chennai, Powerchord 2K1: Secured 2nd place and won individual prizes for 'Best vocalist'.Following the competiotion No Idea were featured as Band of the Week on www.GigPad.com JIPMER College, Pondicherry, Spandan 2K1 : Secured 2nd place again.... and won individual prizes for 'Best Vocalist', 'Best Lead Guitarist', 'Best Rhythm Guitarist', 'Best Drummer' and 'Best Song'. IIT, Chennai, 2002 D.B: Secured 2nd place and won individual prizes for 'Best Keyboardist'.This was No Idea first Semi- Pro competioin. We have performed at reputed Music concerts such as 'June Rock Out' held at The Vineyard, on a number of occasions and have opened shows for India's # 2 Rock Band 'Moksha.Performances were also made in aid of poor school students, earthquake victims, Charity organisitaions such as 'Hope' and is currently doing more projects. As for more Recent News:'The band recorded their single ‘The Siren’Which hit No.1 on the Indian MP3 charts and is No.1on the Rock Mp3 ChartsMP3.com(Listen to The Siren).No Idea would like to thank Christy,Allen,Mike and Sudeen for helping us make it what it is.THANKS!! They performed their Own comps "The Siren’ and ‘$weet-Le@f" on the Television Channel ‘Southern Spice’ along with other reputed band on a program called ‘Spice Jam’ which was aired throughout South India. As for the music, its a metal-progressive-rock-alternative mix, our versatility allowing us to cross genres. The Band's influences include Iron Maiden,Megadeth,DreamTheatre,Nirvana,Europe,Steve Morse,Deep Purple,Linkin Park,Van Halen No Doubt and lots more..... No idea has been rechristened!! We still call ourselves No idea but we're back with a new look and better music . We welcome Christopher (Keyboards), Wayne( bass) and Rahul( drums ) to the band.
