Artist History
What started as a songwriting project between two teenage visionaries has blossomed into a musical act that has built a following among all walks of society.
Jim Moore, guitarist and vocalist for Mono Star, and Evan Hydzik, live
keyboardist, recorded On a Clear Nite Sky in 1999. The 6 song EP quickly became
popular with some of Chicago's most seasoned rock and roll veterans, and convinced Jim
that, yes, he was onto something good.
After a brief hiatus from songwriting, during which he met drummer Trip Small. Jim, Evan, and Trip went back into the studio to record Jim's first ever full-length LP. End Sleeping Phase was released in September of 2001, and was followed shortly there after by Mono Star's first ever live performance at an art gallery in downtown Chicago.
For this, Jim recruited the help of his college room mate Ryan Andrews, and Ryan's brother Mike. The response to the show, as well as the record, far surpassed any
preconceived notions Jim had of his work.
As Mono Star pushes forward to establish themselves as a serious contender for Rock's next big act, Jim and all of the members of Mono Star continue to dazzle audiences with their blend of hard-hitting rock, and soothing lullabyes. And as new songs continue to emerge, it seems as if Mono Star is planning to be here for a while.
