Artist History
Hailing from the darkened streets of New York City comes
forth the vampiric entity of the Goth Metal world known as
VASARIA, featuring vocalist/bassist Baron Misuraca (the
band’s founder who also is a featured comic book character, B
horror film actor, artist and former member of NYC seminal
hardcore/ metal bands: Sheer Terror and Desecrator), classically
trained keyboardist Vlado Kormos, guitarist Robert Scott
Conroy and drummer Corey Getzel.
Their sonic bloodlet expands upon the boundaries of the
Gothic and Metal genres by infusing ambient, classical and
horror film score influences within its rather brooding
soundscape while dark poetic lyrics beckon escapism and
release.. To label them would be a disservice to them, but if
Black Sabbath mated with Sisters of Mercy VASARIA would be
the offspring or as frontman Baron quips, “Tom Jones meets
Frankenstein.”
Within Goth circles VASARIA have left their indelible mark
(or rather bite) and have an extensive fan base in the United
States as well as on European territory. Their 1998 Century
Media Records self-titled debut album (with Genitorturers’
Chuck Lenihan on guitars) was met with overwhelming success,
swarms of European press, heavy rotation of their video
“Abduction” on MTV Europe and a mega tour with German
Goth legends Das Ich.
With another label deal on the horizon, VASARIA will soon
be releasing their highly anticipated second album, Edge Of
Supremacy, (featuring tracks by Candiria/Misfits drummer
Kenneth Schalk). If their debut album was the bloodletting, this
one will be the addiction. Goth and metal fans alike will no
doubt sink their teeth into this one. “The most accurate way I
can describe Edge Of Supremacy is dark and heavy... eloquent
yet highly aggressive!” asserts Baron, “It’s our finest work to
date.” You had better close that window before night.
