Artist History
sid-rich was born in the heart of central Texas in 1994 on the campus of Howard Payne University. The band's name comes from an abandoned hotel/dormitory in Brownwood, Texas, that once belonged to the university. It was a school tradition to try and break into the Sid Rich building and sit around talking, playing music and soaking up the history of the place. To make the experience all the more enjoyable, this practice was frowned upon by school administrators and local law enforcement officials which, for some, made the experience all the more enjoyable. Of course, as law-abiding citizens, members of sid-rich can only relay these facts to you secondhand -- they never inhaled.
The band emerged from the talent-ridden hotbed of a blossoming music scene in the mid-'90s -- there were two bands in Brownwood and each took turns playing at the only local coffee shop. Needless to say, sid-rich ventured out of the confines of university territory into the endless lone star backroads. After several years of constant playing in venues across Texas, a long line of guitarists, a name change and a move to Nashville, the band has finally jelled into a rock/pop machine guaranteed to inspire listeners with its passionate approach to writing and performing music. Throughout the years, sid-rich has been known for its energetic live shows with good, fun rock music that hits close to home and leaves the audience as spent as the performers. For these guys (and girl), nothing has changed. |
