Artist History
Sowly but surely this band started from nothing. Just a drummer, Dave Troncone, and one guitarist, Jamie Mcilroy, messing around in a basement. After playing a couple days out of the week they started to make their own music , the music they've loved, Hardcore. After making a couple of songs that were recorded through a radio they felt they could possibly make something out of this. After a couple more weeks they aquired a bassist, Dennis Mcsweeny. Dennis always brought the life to a practice. Finally a couple more recordings with a bass player the band found its final piece, Bryan Metzinger. The band felt they needed a front man who was not afraid to express true feeling. Finally the band was set and everyone gave what they were expected of. Thinking everything was set the band eventually found Joe Davis who heard some of the recordings and wanted to play with the band. Joe could not make basement practices so we found a studio to rehearse at and everyone was able to make it. Ever since they found the studio everything has been up hill for the band, except one line up change. Since dennis was unable to make practices and what not the band needed a replacement, they found Chris Conger. We found Chris through Bryan and he said he would definitly jam with us on bass. The first practice was all we needed to see. Chris wanted to dedicate alot of his time to the band and we just knew he would be a great addition to the band and we have no regrets. Thinking of a name was not a main thing for the band, it was always up in the air. They would not agree on anything even the frist name brought up, ADVERSITY, which was temporary til they found what they wanted. Then finally after overlooking a list of 10 different names the band chose In the Shadow of the Sun. This name is basically an oxymoron but it has true meaning to those who ever felt that the sun never shined on them. Which you can probably take that into deeper thought. Musically the band focuses on something that kids can dance to and also relate to. With genuine guitar riffs and heavy breakdowns the band wants a mixture of something melodic and something heavy. Most of the lyrics were written up by Dave and Dennis and edited by Bryan, who also comes up with his own lyrics. The lyrics are about misfortunes and most of which everyone can relate to. So finally the band is complete and looking foward to the future. The dedication they put into their music is something that has grown stronger over the year. They cannot wait to make their mark on the New Jersey Hardcore scene and hopefully all goes well. The band cherishes every moment they are together to play, through good clean fun and a bond that could never happen ever again in their lifetime.
7/1/ 01: Alot has changed since we last updated this bio, we have a cd EP out now which is available thorugh contacts. we've also had a line up change too , we've moved our bassit(chris) to vocalist now due to interband conflicts with bryan and we have Mike Smagula from RESTITUTION(awesome by the way) filling in for bass. we played a couple shows over the summer that were completely awesome and we would like to thank Smagula for helpin us out. also one of those shows we played with restitution in PA , it was off the hook but lately we've been taking it easy and just trying to write new material and looking for shows close to home, hopefully we'll have shit hooked up for the fall. we are talking about doing a 6 song split cd wiht RESTITUTION hopefully that works out. but i'll try to keep this posted. thanks DAVE
