    Press Reviews
"Stella Maris come on like gifted kids who've been brought up by 'cruel to be kind' parents on a diet of Starsailor, AR Kanes's 69 and Galaxie 500. In other words: a beautiful sound...but you do wonder if they shouldn't get out more. Seriously, though: worth tracking down." (The Wire, November 2000) - "This split 10” shared with Stella Maris and Quasimojo is a lovely surprise. Both consolidate themselves with electronic music, availing themselves exclusively of synthesizers and fragile vocals. The result is a romantic electronic pop, that more than passes muster, and absolutely unmissable for anyone who appreciated Kranky or Darla releases." (Loosing Today, December 2000) - "During the past decade Stella Maris have been busy perfecting their own strain of electronic pop in the wooded hills of Siegen Germany. Owing as much to the quirky experiments of Kraftwerk as to the hypnotic textures of Seefeel and fractured beats of Autechre, Stella Maris chart their own musical course using clever samples, subdued vocals, and infectious melodies to define their music. Their latest 4-song effort manages to both refine and expand on their distinctive sound by interspersing subtle male and female vocals with the minimalistic percussion and layered melodic synth lines that frequently permeate their songs. What had been remote and mechanical has become warm and organic, with a hypnotic beat and funkified groove that wouldn't be out of place on a futurist dance floor. Not so much an evolution in sound as a distinct and convincing step sideways, Uranus Ore Mine is well worth seeking out."(Gary Franz - Geometric Regional)
