Artist History
The band formed in early '98 from the ashes of a couple of local bands. Jeff Caywood and Aaron Cooper, both guitarists from Dirty Politix, and Mike Grubb, the guitarist/singer from Obscurity got together and started working on song ideas. With Aaron trading in his guitar for a pair of drumsticks, the search was on for a bass player. After jamming with several bass players, the band hooked up with Cory Greer in the summer of '98,the guitarist from local bands Crank and Fungus. Cory switched over to bass, and the band continued to write songs and play shows locally and regionally. In the fall of '98 the band hit the studio and recorded Bloodlust, the 8 song debut cd. During the spring and summer of '99, the band went through a couple of personnel changes. Joining the band were Andy Carr on drums, and Jason Keffer (formerly from the local band Falling Jon) on bass. The tightness of the new rhythm section was evident immediately, sparking new creativity during the writing process. The band hit the studio again in January of 2000, recording the cd Modern Stain. That was followed up in the spring of 2002 with the newest and most complete recording to date, entitled "Fragments". As time has pushed forward so has RNG, playing many shows with a vast array of other talented bands, landing spots on several high profile compilations, constantly writing new material, and continuously evolving as a band. |
