Press Reviews
Silencer web site:
Panoptiman take many of the tricks of the Drum 'n' Bass trade and
reconfigure them with an awareness of the possibilities of noise and
atmosphere as far removed from the fresh Jazzy samples of the slick commercialism now endemic in
the genre. Genres other than the all-encompassing Electronica become superfluous (if they weren't
already) in the face of claps, blips, and stumbling drum loops of this untitled debut, around which are
constructed the processed sounds of sundry wind instruments, including muted trumpets and flutes
which share an awareness of possibilities of extending the Jazz dynamic (more Coltrane than soaring
sax lines) with the likes of Pram.
