Artist description
As the lines between music genres become increasingly blurred, bands that
combine a hybrid of influences while creating an original sound are those
that prove to be the most groundbreaking. Enter Junken Groil, the
Chicago-based duo of Shauna Bearman and Steven Rathbone, who combine
elements of ambient, industrial rock and trip hop into unpretentious,
emotive songs that both calm and arouse the spirit.
Bearman, native of Albequerquee NM, uses elements of jazz and rock vocal
harmony creating an ethereal soundscape, both dreamlike and unforgiving. And
born and raised Detroiter, Rathbone,(guitarist and keyboardist for the
avant-garde spazz-core troop 7000 DYING RATS) swirls uncategorizable
melodies with abrasive charm. This ongoing clash between the unrelenting and
the innocent makes Junken Groil‚s music evocatively innovative. For the
jaded music fan who thinks it's all been done, Junken Groil is a
must-listen. |
