Press Reviews
"Cosmic Review from CDnow"When Don Herman waxes romantically about traveling the highways and byways of this great land,he knows of what he speaks. Herman, you see, was a truck driver when the honky tonk bug finally bit him, prompting him to start writing and performing his own material. With more than just a casual nod to country greats like Hank Williams, Jr. and George Strait, Herman's songs talk about life on the open road, while slippery steel guitars and violins twang away in the background. He sure doesn't make the life of a working man sound too glamorous, but his finely aged voice and guitar playing sure does make it sound sweet.Pat Berkery For fans of:Hank Williams, Jr., George Strait, Ernest Tubb.----------------- Hi Don,I am listening now to Blisters and Callouses - greatstuff! What a great band you have as a back-up onthis song! Thanks for writing. Have you introducedyourself to the Country bulletin boards at MP3? Whatabout Amp3? All the best to you. I am really impressed with yourtalent!Cheers.Anne--------------------------------------------------Hometown: North Hollywood, CA, US North Hollywood's Don Herman succeeds in the delivery of sly,mid-tempo, Honky-Tonk favorites. Violin and slide guitar are there to encourage your two-stepping tendencies. Song topics include drinking and dancing.Sounds Like: Hank Williams, Jr., George Strait, Hank Thompson. Sadly, the aforementioned drink seems to have spilled on the master tapes. By Editor Jon Pruett of Listen.com |
