Press Reviews
carbon based lifeforms is the ambient side project of notch (techno/dance/acid). much like notch, the carbon based lifeforms project is a cut above average and these sleek, graceful and tranquil beauties are definitely recommended.sampled and treated vocals from some sort of public depot hang out in the background giving title credence to station blue, an ambient techno light track from the swedish group. the light tribal beats set to a simple melodic loop with minor floating trance notes and background pads set the stage for this laid back ambient number. mostly calming and relaxing in style but not enough so that the excellent beats don't register. repetitive but thoroughly nice and elegant.into the canyon was somewhat of a surprise since i found it quite similar in melody and style to station blue. the deep, soothing bass was a nice addition and again, the minor trance melodies and light beats add a bit of flair to what would otherwise be a very relaxed minimal ambient piece. nice little effects float in the song now and then, all sequenced so smoothly. perhaps not ambient per se but mellow trance for quiet nights. again... nice.dreamshore forest, with it's multitude of natural sounds, is more environmental soundscape than ambient but the beauty of the string pads is what makes this tranquil number such a beauty. beyond the waves and the wind, there isn't much music but the way the pads flow together with such smoothness makes dreamshore forest a perfect track for quiet moments.reviewed by sal of www.raw42.com |
