    Artist History
Singer-songwriter Adam Dorfman performs his songs with rich, warm vocals, intricate acoustic sounds and elements of diversity and heart lacking in much of today’s music. Take one part folk music, add one part acoustic rock and a dash of country, and you’ve got the sound that has gained Adam a faithful following of listeners of all ages. At the age of 15, Adam became one of the youngest artists ever to play the renowned Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA. Seven years later, he still plays to audiences at Eddie’s and all across the United States. His collaborative projects include the names of some of the finest artists in the country, including Shawn Mullins, Francine Reed, Ellis Paul, Kristian Bush (of Billy Pilgrim) and Michelle Malone. Adam has also shared the stage with such acts as Art Garfunkel, Anne Murray, Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Pierce Pettis, Ben Folds Five, Sister Hazel, and more. Adam’s stage presence is warm, his lyrics intelligent and his guitar work richly complex. His shows are a blend of original songs and cover versions of well-known folk and rock songs. While listeners are drawn into the straightforward, intimate lyrics of his own work, Adam has proven himself capable of doing acoustic justice to just about any song that can be played on a guitar. It is not unusual for his audiences to sing along with him not only on well-known covers, but on his own songs as well. The mature sounds of Adam’s latest CD, The Difference, are quickly gaining him a spot among folk rock’s foremost artists. From the powerful and tender strains of the first track, “Century Child,” through the touchingly human stories told in “Sioux Falls Soldier” and “Ashley’s Song,” Adam uses both his songwriting and guitar playing skills to create an undeniably unique sound that appeals to the very heart of his audience. While drawing influences from the likes of Lyle Lovett, Tom Waits, Van Morrison, and Jim Croce, Adam’s energetic original songs remain original and true to form. Adam’s recordings include: The Difference (April 1, 2000), Does Not Play Well With Others (1998), Psycho Poet Recordings Volume Three (1997, out of print), Roller Coaster Trip (1996), and TC-17 (1995). All were mixed, recorded and co-produced by Don McCollister at Nickel and Dime Studio in Avondale Estates, GA. One of the finest producers of acoustic music in the country, Don has mixed for the Indigo Girls, Caedmon’s Call, Chuck Brodsky and Billy Pilgrim, as well as many others.

    Press Reviews
Moody and reflective folk from a singer-songwriter with a confident voice that often wavers into tremolo inflections. The acoustic guitar was recorded warmly, bringing a strong sense of nurturing security to these inward musings. –Listen.com By Blake Guthrie of Southeast Performer magazine: Adam Dorfman started doing the singer/songwriter thing when he was 15 years old. Now he's in his twenties. So, saying he's matured as a songwriter would be kind of stupid; of course he's matured as a songwriter! But now that Dorfman has emerged from the best/worst years of his life intact, it's safe to say that "The Difference," his newest CD, is far and away the best work of his budding career. His songs are like beautiful postcards sent form places you haunted years ago and can't go back to; it's nice to look at the postcards and simply reflect on things. The guest list here is a virtual Who's Who of local (Atlanat) legends and superstars, starting with diva extraordinaire Francine Reed, and ending with divine popstress Michelle Malone. The production is top notch. This isn't one of those Independent releases you have to crank up to ten to hear through the hiss. If you're a fan of Dorfman's ol' buddy Shawn Mullins, then this disc is for you. By Willow of rymanbound.com: Impressive credentials surround acoustic guitar player Adam Dorfman. Adam has collaborated with such greats as Shawn Mullins, Francine Reed, Ellis Paul, Kristian Bush, and Michelle Malone. Dorfman has also shared the stage with one of my favorites, Alison Krauss and Union Station. If you include on this list Art Garfunkel, Anne Murray, Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls, and Sister Hazel; you get the picture this guy keeps great company. Adam also counts himself as being the youngest artist to ever play the renowned Eddie’s Attic, in Decatur, GA, he was 15. Incorporating musical influences from such artists as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Tom Waits, and Paul Simon, Adam has come up with a style of music he says is, “One part folk music, add one part acoustic rock and a dash of country.” Interesting mix and it works. Adam's vocals are unrestrained, clear and passionate, his guitar playing is done with unbridled passion, and his lyrics have an enjoyable storytelling quality to them. If you checked out the “At A Glance” below this feature, you’ll notice that Adam has a large and experience rich band helping him create a powerful listening experience for his fans. Adam’s latest release, "The Difference," has received favorable reviews and has gained him many loyal fans. Adam refers to “Voices In My Head” as “The one big country tune off the new record.” It’s a great song with perfectly placed backup vocals. I love the use of Steel throughout the song. The track “Girl From Yesterday” is solidly written has great rhythm and is very catchy, a hit if you ask me. “Work It Out” has amazing lyrics; I have listened to it five times in a row now; each time I do I uncover something new in this song to enjoy. If you like a well produced album with lyrics that tell interesting and meaningful stories, and you appreciate the sound of a well played guitar, and a fantastic backing band, then Adam and his gang are for you.
