Artist History
Formed over a cup of coffee and a conversation regarding
the lack of depth in today's popular music, Holiday Minor was
formed. Bassist Brandon Sumner and vocalist/guitarist Jon
McCartie set out to create the music that they wished there
was more of.
Within five months, the band had its first demo with friend
Matthew Casebeer filling in on drums. In October 2000 the
band played its first show at Cafe Bleu - a mod/Brit pop club
boasting acts such as The Dandy
Warhols, Phantom Planet and
The Autumns and attracting
visitors like Brian Wilson,
Courtney Love, and Johnny Marr.
By the end of the headlining set,
the venue was reduced to
standing room only.
During the months following, the
band made a few lineup changes
to better keep up with the original
vision of the band. Drummer
Lenny Beh and guitarist Travis Trevisan brought new life to the
Holiday Minor team - each a unique talent at their instruments.
Although a few changes were made on stage, Holiday Minor
continued to fill venues such as the the famous Whisky a Gogo
and the local college campus of USC.
Ironically enough, the members of Holiday Minor are all high
school friends who pursued other muscial outlets after
graduation. However, each found something lacking in where
their music had taken them. Each was then drawn to the
Holiday Minor ideal that music could be much more than
contrived entertainment.
Holiday Minor spent the summer of 2001 recording their debut
EP, "Bury Me." The record was self-produced and recorded over
a 4 month period, involving every member in the process to
provide fresh ears to each song.
With a new sound and an honest approach to songwriting,
Holiday Minor is back...and better than ever.

Press Reviews
Despite its youth, the four-some possesses a confident stage
presence and coherence lacking in most newbie local bands.
When you watch the band perform, you are seeing a functioning
unit working together on stage. Holiday Minor's style is wispy
without being sissy, rock without screaming, emotion without
whining. They pleasantly surprised most people in attendance,
and it was obvious that some of them had become avid fans before
the nine-song set was over.

They pulled in a respectable crowd, and their performance
explained why: though their sound take cues from the Smashing
Pumpkins and Bends-era Radiohead, it has a definite underlying
groove...The guitars were loud and smoking...
