Artist History Sterlena has sung for Heads of State, with Grammy, Dove, and Stellar Award Winners, and has worked with Academy and Emmy Award- Winning Directors. She's performed in sold out arenas before hundreds of thousands of people. And now after years of writing, recording and performing primarily for others, she is finally ready to step out on her own. First introduced to the world as lead singer for The Rickey Grundy Chorale in 1990, Sterlena's powerful delivery of "Just Say The Word" helped propel the album to the top ten on Billboard's Gospel Charts. The group went on to win best new artist at the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Sterlena continued working on recordings, in television and theatre, and providing background vocals for such artists as Yolanda Adams, Natalie Cole, CeCe Winans, Whitney Houston, and Aretha Franklin. Most recently, Sterlena toured West Africa with Andre Crouch. "It was such an incredible experience," she says. "We sang before 80,000 people in a packed stadium in Accra, Ghana. What affected me most was listening to them sing. They have so little, but they were praising God with all their might. It was a very humbling experience." Sterlena's television credits include appearances on "Family Matters" and "Sister, Sister". Very active in her church, Sterlena is Director of First Fruits Children's Choir and a Praise Team leader where she touches the hearts of more than 20,000 members.
