"Brilliant Weezer-esque pop rock-n-roll with an early British Invasion upbeat vibe (as well as an XTC-ish sentiment) especially on the supreme "When I Die" -- a spirited look forward to one's own funeral without any hint of morbid futility -- and the equally enchanting "Standing In Her Sun" -- a peppy pure pop excursion with cleverly crafted lyrics describing a typical romantic quandary. "When I Die": "It will be just like my birthday except that I won't be there. All my friends will come to see me. They will tell me how they care." "Standing In Her Sun": "I'm a big black cloud on her sunny day then she blows me kisses to send me away, but she loves the rainbows that I make and my silver lining is hers to take." Rocket Frog is an absolute Raging Smolder fave rave!!" -Raging Smolder "It is rare enough to find a self-released recording with even one strong song, let alone 22, yet that is what we have here in Marvelicious, the terrific debut CD by Mike Mulligan, a/k/a Rocket Frog. Seventy minutes of music here, and it's still too short for me. Embracing styles from rock to folk and pure pop--with a sea shanty here and there--Mulligan writes songs of enduring beauty, universal appeal and irresistible charm. It's not all sweet as sugar, either; most tunes have a dark twist, as in the poignant "Dreamkiller": "Tell me your dreams and they won't come true/'Cause I'll make sure they never do/'Cause I know your dreams will take you away from me." Ouch!" -Jim Santos' Demo Universe
