Artist History
Reflection was founded in Lünen (NRW/Germany) by Timo Lehmann (guitar) in 1992.
In the following year the first bigger concerts were held at several events, for example as support act for Accuser, Germany's thrash heroes of that time.
Alas, the Band in that formation could not cross local borders, so Markus Radola took over the mike. His expressive voice added a more sophisticated touch to the songs.
Inspired by the new front man and growing instrumental abilities, their style went more and more to speed/thrash metal, a development not everyone in the band could identify with. Thus Reflection fell apart in 1996.
Markus and Timo tried to rebuild Reflection back from the basis, but could not find suitable musicians meeting all the requirements until 1999. With Heino Drescher (guitar) and Siggi Kwapich (bass) two high-quality musicians finally joined Reflection. Half a year later Stephan Bäumer (drums) completed the band.
With a finally working chemistry the material for the first Demo-CD was written in no time. In May 2001 "Blind Rage", a self-directed speed/thrash metal EP was produced, which fans and fanzines treated very well. During the Drum-Demo-Listening-Session 2001 "Blind Rage" was voted into the Hard ‘n Heavy Top 20 out of 1300 band productions across Europe.
The new formation was also convincing on stage, and gradually received proposals for concerts in the entire 'Ruhrgebiet'.
Encouraged by such success Reflection started to write songs for their demo-CD "Trapped Insanity", released February 2002.
With rising name recognition the fan community began to grow as well and copies of the demos were shipped among other countries to the United States and Russia. So interviews and reports about the Band and their publications could be found in innumerable online magazines and even Russian printed media.
MP3-songs offered for download in considerable E-Zines (Metal-Glory, etc.) remained in the top ten for weeks and were already briefly after their release ranked over business authorities such as "Cannibal Corpse", "Bolt Thrower", "Six Feet Under" and "King Diamond".
It did not take long before concert organizers from all over the world offered gigs to Reflection; due to missing sponsors unfortunately only those within Germany could be realized.
Overwhelmed by such positive feedback Reflection decided that it was time for a Longplayer. Thus the long expected CD "Made in Hell" was finished in the mid of 2003. Shortly after the recording was announced Reflection received pre-orders from innumerable countries around the world.
The experience of many years and hard work let the Band grew ever more to a working unit, which affected the songwriting lastingly. The newer songs are characterized by more complexity and inventiveness, however never losing sight of the speed/thrash metal roots.
Despite a constantly growing fan community - the Reflection homepage is regularly visited from over 50 countries - the CD publication is unfortunately delayed due to the search for a suitable label/distributor. |
