Artist History JOE WEISSMAN: I write the words for most of the songs. I write them down, then somehow get them to one of the other guys, usually dan. Dan plays guitar, then writes the song with travis. Sometimes Dan writes the song all by his lonesome, and sometimes dave is there and adds a riff or a new wrinkle somewhere else. As I said before, Trav is often there. It is quite exciting, to hear words you wrote sang as part of a song. most times, I am in another place than the reast of the guys, so i send the words to them through the mail or via the computer. Sometimes, though, I visit that pink shack near the truck shop, on the south side of montauk highway. We are old friends, and I am always happy to see them. We usually have a drink, and then they play me some new music. That is how it goes. Sometimes other people are at that pink shack. todd is there sometimes, to play his bassguitar and sing a few lines. There are other people there too, some musicians and some lost sea captains and town drunks. I had a rum and coke there once with a guy found sleeping on the doorstep. He enjoyed the music too. Traffic goes by, and the more songs we play.
