Artist History
Valerie was raised in a part of Los Angeles where West LA meets Central LA – Culver City - as close to Inglewood as it is to Beverly Hills - between downtown LA and the Pacific Ocean. She grew up in the shadows of Sony Motion Picture Studios in the cultural and economic crossroads of all that Los Angeles has to offer. Throughout elementary school she was taught entirely in Spanish and spent some time in Guadalajara, Mexico as an exchange student. Diverse ethnic influences shaped her style and musical tastes. The local schools were balanced between Whites, African Americans, and Latinos. However, just as she began high school she moved with her family 30 miles northwest to Agoura Hills, where she now lives. She has performed on stage singing and dancing since she was three years old. As a dancer, she studied jazz and hip hop with Regina Williams, a well known NY and LA based dance teacher. Valerie also loves musical theater and has developed quite a resume doing local community theater musical productions. She comes from a showbiz family. Both of her parents were working actors when Valerie was young. In fact, they met starring in a TV movie of the week for NBC Stranger at Jefferson High. Her father, Jeff Chamberlain, was a contract lead on the CBS daytime series Capitol and performed numerous times in other daytime and episodic television and film. Her mother, Lachelle Price, was regularly seen in episodic TV guest starring roles in the 80’s, in many commercials, and onstage. |
