Artist History
Formed in 1997 as a praise and worship band for a local youth group, 3 Day Grave had good music with a good message. The band started with 11 vocalists and instrumentalists who performed contemporary hymns. It was a totally different style of music back then. But as members left to pursue other opportunities, 3DG took a turn for the world of rock. They have a goal that extends beyond the stage. "It extends to the heavens," says the group's leader, Jason Lowe. "Hopefully, our goal is to try to keep in focus that what we're doing is for God...If we never make it big or get signed, God's going to use us however he wants to." The name 3 Day Grave came about when Lowe and sound technician Danny Long were tossing around names for the group. Lowe said it reflects on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. "Jesus was in the tomb three days," Lowe said. "That was his grave for three days".
In August of 1999, the band began to play more concert settings. Under the lead of Lowe, 3DG started getting a taste of the music industry. A year later, the group beat out 10 bands in the finals of a Battle of the Bands competition held in Ocala, Fla. First prize was a performance in front of 5,000 people at the KINGDOM BOUND 2000 festival. Over the past two years they have landed gigs with several national recording artists, including Luna Halo, Scarecrow & Tinmen and PAX217. In 2001 they released their long-awaited debut album, VACANCY.
Today, 3 Day Grave's catchy guitar riffs, uncompromising vocals and most of all, their testimonies of Jesus Christ have begun to win the respect of fans throughout the state of Florida. They have the ability to be in your face with Alternative Rock or soothe your soul with their unique sound of worship.
"They're more than entertainers", says Lisa Hickman, Interim Director at the Cafe on the Rock, downtown Ocala, where the band often plays. "They're ministers of God" she says. "They truly are a band that wants to glorify God". |
