Artist History
It all started out with Two Fat Guys & A Portugee...that was the band name and the description of its members. After a party over the December 2000 winter break, five guys decided to form a band and start taking it seriously. Shortly after, the band of James Gagne, Adam Dykas, Dan O'Rourke, Peter Lucas, and Peter Magalhaes named themselves Shipyard Wreck and began playing their original songs and cover songs out at local scenes. Shipyard Wreck was now an entity performing live venues around Massachusetts.
Over the next year, Shipyard Wreck had recorded two demo CDs for promotional use mostly and one CD ("Get Wrecked") comprised of eleven original songs. As people began hearing of the band, they began to play more and more at various places.
The band was set back a little when their bassist (P. Lucas) had to leave due to conflicting schedules with his education. Nevertheless, one week later the band slightly reformed by having former rhythm guitarist Dan O'Rourke play bass and lead singer James Gagne play some of the rhythm guitar. Without practice, the band played their first show as a four-piece band successfully. The sound and energy of the band had been salvaged allowing the band to continue on with the current schedule.
Changing again, since the lead guitarist at the time could no longer commit himself, John Fernandes was acquired. John became a big influence to the band and sparked a new flame in the band. Original song writing increased immensely along with live jamming and many other aspects of the music. John is now the current lead guitarist along with James on acoustic guitar.
The band is now J. Gagne, J. Fernandes, D. O'Rourke, and P. Magalhaes. They continue to perform live, reaching farther and farther every day, to show more people exactly who and what Shipyard Wreck is and what how we will GET YOU WRECKED!
Currently, the band is in the studio recording their album "Reflect & Shine", which they hope gets them signed with a label and gets them noticed far and beyond their hometown. |
